Today is the first time I ever piicked up a guitar, and it's a little confusing. Please tell me it'll get easier. All I've learned so far was the beginning to "silent night" and the beginning to "electric funeral" (both not very difficult).

Here's a good start for you. Do you know "Knocking on Heaven's Door" It's G,D,Amin7 followed by G,D,C. The chords in tab are G - 320003, D -xx0323, Amin7 - x02010, and C - 332010.

Now to expand on it and to increase your knowledge of guitar chords, move it into another key. Say the key of F which is F,C,Gmin7 followed by F,C,Bb.

You say you are just starting so learning. Barring the strings, that is to hold down several strings with your index finger is critical. Place your index finger across the first fret and hold all six strings. To make F - 133211. You already know C - 332010. Now Gmin7 bar the third fret and play 353333. And the last chord Bb, bar the first fret, but don't play the sixth string x13331. You'll notice you can bar with the third fret on all three strings with the ring finger. I suggest using the middle finger on the 4th string, the ring finger on the second string, and the pinky on the 2nd string. Yeah, it's harder! It will benefit you greatly later on in forming new chords. Example the Bbmaj7 - x13231.
