I wanted to share with you some comparisons between the bass and the guitar.
The bass is tuned to E, A, D, G. The guitar is tuned to E, A, D, G, B, E. Notice anything? The low four strings of the guitar are exactly one octave higher than the bass. So for anyone who is reading tab for the low four strings of the guitar just play it on the bass. And for anyone reading music in the treble clef just drop the notes down seven spaces and write in a bass clef. Count each line and the space between each line as one space, that's how you count the seven spaces. All the sharps and flats will work out just fine, so you can ignore them.
And here's something else for acoustic guitar players. Stand your guitar upright like an upright bass. Now slap the low E and A strings with the alternating index and middle finger near to the bridge of the guitar. Notice how much lower it sounds when you stand it up on the floor and slap near to the bridge.
Happy playing.
