i have a problem with my guitar. The problem is the G string. Whenever I want to play a chord with it (ex. A-----2---------- ) D-----4---------- G-----4---------- i have to play the G string a fret lower so it sounds like it should (A------2--------- ). D------4--------- G------3--------- i cant figure out the problem. it cant be my humbucker or my strings because i just put in an EMG 81 yesterday with new strings. And I have tried 2 different tuners. i dont understand, it was working fine after i put in the emg with the strings, it just started tonight. Can someone please help me?

It could be that you have a bad fret, or possibly the intonation needs adjusted(which is something you should let a professional repairman do), or you could buy one of the guitar repair books on this site which is on the free lessons page (click on the guitar maintenance link). I had the same problem once and it was a bad fret which needed replaced, and the fret cost me 5 dollars and the guy who repaired charged me $10.00
