Ok, I have a question. I am writing some songs in E, and I'm stuck using the E pentatonic minor box at the 12th fret Can you tell me how I can still play in E, but move around more? Are there any runs, or any other scales I should be or could be using? Thanks ;D

E major is made up of the notes E, F#, G#, A, B, C#, and D#, so try these minor pentatonic scales in E major.
C#minor pentatonic- C#, E, F#, G#, B
F#minor pentatonic- F#, A, B, C#, E
G#minor pentatonic- G#, B, C#, D#, F#
And if you're playing in the E major harmonic scale which is E, F#, G#, A, B, C#, D, try these:
C# minor pentatonic- C#, E, F#, G#, B
F# minor pentatonic- F#, A, B, C#, E
Just to get you started: the low F# is located at the second fret of the sixth string, the low G# is located at the fourth fret of the sixth string, and the low C# is located at the 9th fret of the sixth string and fourth fret of the fifth string. That should get you away from the 12th fret.
I just remembered that A, C, D, E, G was A minor pentatonic and found all the other pentatonic scales using the same relationships between the notes. Then I saw which pentatonic scales had five notes that all fit into the E major scale. Those are the scales that you should be able to play in E major.
