I like this song and it's really quite easy to play so long as you have the rhythm and feel of the song. It's a good song to learn as a beginner.
So here it is, the chord tabluture will follow so don't let the chord names scare you:
For the opening Gmaj, Gminb5(with 5), D7sus4, C5, Gb5(no 3rd), Gmaj
In the intro strum G only down, then Gminb5 (with 5) only down, D7sus4 on the downward and upward motion of the strum, and then D7sus4 only down. Then C5 on the down stroke, Gb5(no 3rd) on the upstroke. Then G major on the downstroke. This should get you started.
Repeat this 4 times. And then as the lyrics "And I feel, and I feel that as the dogs begin to smell her will she smell alone..." come in:
Ebmaj7, Fmaj, Ebmaj 7, D7sus4, Gmaj
Now go back to the intro section and play with the feel of the song.
And now for the chord shapes.
G major
320033 (play this chord at the end of the Emaj7...Gmaj progression)
xx0033 (play this chord as the first chord in the intro)
xx0003 (play this chord as the last chord in the intro)
Gminb5(with5) - xx0323 D7sus4 - xx0213 C5 - xxxx13 Gb5 (no3rd) - xxx23 Ebmaj7 - x65333 Fmaj - xx3211
And remember this song is all about the feel of the song. Concentrate on the feel of the song. Make sure you fill the song with resting your hand and slapping the body of the guitar for the rhythm feel while you are strumming chords.
Please send any comments. Happy playing.
