Check this out in DADGAD tuning. (You'll have to line up the notes because the computer doesn't space them in columns correctly)
Here are the first six frets in open D tuning reading across all six strings. Write them into columns.
Open -D,A,D,G,A,D Fret 1- Eb,Bb,Eb,Ab,Bb,Eb Fret 2 -E,B,E,A,B,E Fret 3-F,C,F,Bb,C,F Fret 4-F#,C#,F#,B,C#,F# Fret 5-G,D,G,C,D,G Fret 6-Ab,Eb,Ab,Db,Eb,Ab
Eb is same as D#. Ab is same as G#.
Starting on the low D on the sixth string follow with E, F#, G frets 2,4, and 5. Now play the open A on string 5. Play B, C#, D at frets 2, 4, and 5. On the fourth string E,F#,G at frets 2,4, and 5. Now completely skip the third string. Play the second string A,B,C#,D. You got it open, fret 2, fret 4, fret 5. Finally play the E,F#,G frets 2,4, and 5 on the first string.
You know have D major. Pretty cool huh!
And check this out for E major! Start at the sixth string second fret. Play E,F#,G at frets 2,4, and 6 with index finger, middle finger, and pinky. Play the open A on 5th string then B,C#,D# at frets 2,4,6. Fourth string E,F#,G# at frets 2,4,6. Third string A,B, C# at frets 2,4,6. Skip the second string. Play open D on first string followed by E,F#,G# at frets 2,4,6.
Imagine how fast you can play that!
Put a capo at the first fret and immediately you have Eb and F major. Capo at the second fret E and F#. Third F and G. Four F# and Ab. Fifth G and A. Sixth Ab and Bb. Seventh A and B. And so on....
Let me know how it works for you.
