He everyone, I thought some of you might like to know how I relearned how to read music. I learned as a small child, and then stopped playing. I am now in my 50's and play with a jazz band. I find a piece of music with lots of notes, a really complicated piece, then using a theory book showing what all the notes are, I photo copy the music sheet and write above every note what it is. After a while the old brain starts to remember what the notes are. I did this one evening a week, whilst watching tv so that I didnt get too bogged down by it, eventualy I used the music that the band wanted to play. It didnt come all at once, but give it time and the old brain will eventually get up to speed for you. For a while I had to have the notes written in above whilst I played, but then I was given a piece at short notice and I had to play it right then. I was so suprised and pleased when I got to the end and found I had got there the same time as the others I did a little dance and the stage. Hope this helps Hotfoot
